Dal Sahota, clinical hypno-psychotherapist

Meet your educator

Hi, I'm Dal.

I'm a Clinical Hypno-Psychotherapist and Principal Master Instructor of Mental Health First Aid, and I've trained thousands of people across Australia in accredited mental health education in workplaces, schools, and community organisations.

I also know this territory from the inside. In my 40s, integrative hypno-psychotherapy was the first thing that helped me feel safe, calm, and able to shift long-standing trauma patterns. That experience changed the direction of my life. I retrained so I could offer others an approach that works not only with thoughts, but with the body and nervous system.

These courses bring my clinical work and my teaching together: honest, practical, evidence-informed education you can move through at your own pace.

Advanced Diploma in Clinical Hypnotherapy & Psychotherapy
Associate Degree in Clinical Hypnotherapy & Psychotherapy
Diploma in Hypno-Counselling
Master's candidate in Counselling & Psychotherapy
Clinical research: trauma-informed hypno-psychotherapy for alcohol dependency

Her sessions are surprisingly versatile where she not only tailors her training style to accommodate trainees of different backgrounds but also gently challenges learners to enhance their learning skills and comprehension. She also balances her sessions with equal amount of instruction and group discussions, thereby allowing the learners to grasp and apply what they have learnt as soon as possible. Good to know

Questions people often ask

Is this therapy?

No. These are educational programs, not therapy, and they're not a substitute for working with a qualified mental health professional. Many students use them alongside therapy; others use them as a structured, safe starting point for understanding themselves.

Can I book you as my therapist?

If you're in Australia, yes. I work with clients one to one, offering evidence-based clinical hypno-psychotherapy. You can get in touch through my main website at dalsahota.com.

If you're outside Australia, therapy is regulated by the country you live in, so I'm not able to offer psychotherapy across borders. Instead I offer international clients what practitioners all over the world offer: structured coaching. It's non-clinical, skills-based support drawing on the same evidence-based approaches I use in my clinical work. Coaching is not therapy and not treatment or diagnosis of a mental health condition, and where clinical care is needed I will always encourage you to connect with a qualified professional in your own country.

Can I take a course while I'm in therapy?

Yes, and many students do exactly that. The courses give you language, understanding, and daily tools that can make your therapy sessions richer. You're welcome to share anything you learn here with your therapist.

Who are these courses for?

Adults who want to understand complex trauma, alcohol dependence, or chronic shame, whether for their own healing or to better support someone they love. No prior knowledge is needed; everything is explained in plain language.

How do the courses work?

Everything is online and self-paced. Once enrolled, you log in from any device and move through video lessons and practical exercises in your own time, revisiting material whenever you need it.

I'm outside Australia. Can I still take the courses?

Absolutely. The courses are educational and fully online, so you can enrol from anywhere in the world. Because they teach understanding and skills rather than provide treatment, there are no geographic restrictions on learning.

When do the waitlisted courses open?

Breaking Up With Alcohol™ and Beyond Shame™ are opening soon. Joining the waitlist is free, and waitlist members are the first to hear when enrolment opens.

What if I'm struggling right now?

If you're in distress or crisis, please reach out for immediate support. In Australia you can contact Lifeline on 13 11 14, any time of day or night. These courses are here for you when you're in a steadier place to learn.

Start where you are.

Whether you're ready to enrol today or simply want to be told when doors open, the first step is the same: choose the course that speaks to you.
